Marble Statues

I recently found out 
that the white
Greek and Roman 
marble sculptures used 
to be painted

Those beautiful 
austere statues 
used to be more 
gaudy and fun 
and that feels more 
authentic and
real to me 

I hope that when 
I’m gone
people will only
remember
the white austere
marble version
of me

I want pants 
though
