Again, again
after Michael Burkard

Okay, okay. I am leaving my apartment. Walking down your street
again. I want to kiss you. Again. And leave no room for error. No room
to breathe. I want to stand toe to toe, nose to nose. Like a dog and a
cat meeting for the first time. I want to lose track of time. Sleep is
unnecessary. But I fall asleep at sunrise and wake to the smell of
cedar and gardenias, like the candle from that restaurant we went to.
They played Garner’s Misty. The woman next to us asked if it was
our anniversary, when it was only our first date. The waiter who
lingered at our table, who also couldn’t take his eyes off you…
