Stillness

“Stillness is not the absence of movement,” she said,
it’s an unmeasurable pause,
the trajectory of the marble rolling on the sidewalk
slow motion hopes and aspirations suspended,
an in-between

Stillness is not the absence of movement, it's the hovering of the bee
before it ventures in a bloom,
the opening of lips
before tasting the fruit,
the incommensurable breath
before the first kiss

“Stillness is not the absence of movement,” she said
it's the quiet listening of the instant
of the now.

And so linger. linger in the moment. linger in the now so that i can taste the stillness.

“Stillness is not the absence of movement,” she said.
it’s the instant
happening between us
the marble still rolling.

things i hate

war, the pandemic and its impact on human relations
breathing through a mask, suffocating, last breaths
damp towels left on the wooden floor, dirty socks
the complexity of life, mistrust, the eternal power struggles of greed and fame
the word moist, the smell of moldy car rugs, fruit flies hovering around my fruit
the political chasm that has pulled you away
death, dying, souls suffering - intrinsically alone
isolation, silence - not so much the quiet,
but
the emptiness
after you left
wondering what i could/should/would have done better,
and if you would have stayed
wanting you back
lost thoughts,
lost mind,
memories slipping by…

what is left of you in me
and the fear that it is fading away
