Jakima Davis' Blues

Put a diamond next to it
Eat off the plate next to it
Smooth the oil next to it
Put a ring next to it
Pour the liquor next to it
Change the lock next to it
Throw the rock next to it
Lick the ice cream next to it
Walk the dog next to it
Blow the horn next to it
Fall in love next to it
Play that jazz next to it
Hit the stick next to it
Get marry next to it
Write a song next to it
Write a poem next to it
Smell the flowers next to it
Fly the airplane next to it
Bend the blues next to it
Jump the boogie next to it
Get down next to it
Strike the lighting next to it
Chase the cat next to it
Puff the smoke next to it
Row the boat next to it
Cut the tape next to it
Flip flop next to it
Sip the wine next to it

Chains

Break the link of chains
Holding on so it won't break
Wrote this three days ago

We Fall

Just a setting sun
We all fall behind the mist
Sunshine cook burning

Gone Country

Music on radio
American terrorist
Molasses bubbles

This is America

I'm the plantation
Picking cotton cutting sugar
My hands my country

Summertime Sadness

Memories of home
Mother and child reunion
The smells of cornbread

Jakima Davis has been writing poetry for 20 years.  I've been published in underground publications.  Currently working on a haiku manuscript that's still in the works.  I'm posting my poems on Facebook to gain a fan base.
