Stephanie Hiteshew
Hotel
I live in a hotel
for the disorderly
not allowed to push
the elevator buttons
all at once.The windows
are decorated
with steel bars
and wire curtains.I can fling myself
against the walls
and not hurt myself.The only sense of order
is found rooted in the chaos;
someone’s sounding the sirens
to welcome the new arrivals.
