Naked Man on Crutches after Knee Surgery

He hobbles to the bathroom
leans against the sink,
drops his shorts,
kicks them to the side
with one good leg.

He holds onto
the foam hand grips,
resituates a crutch
underneath one arm.

Makes it to the shower.
Mirror fogs as he
cautiously steps in,

losing himself in the hot
steady stream of water
pounding his face,
wishing this was
the fountain of youth
as he slides downward

toward the drain.
